There is a desperate need for Australia’s churches to be brought to biblical vitality. Where this is lacking, the Christian witness in the community is diminished and all manner of social problems result.
Presbyterian churches in NSW are encourage to undertake regular assessments of their vitality and adjust their practices to achieve and maintain congregational health.
Assessment is an important stepping stone towards the real goal of recovery, so a new Church Health Survey has been developed within the Church Offices. You can find it here.
We embrace the biblical paradigm for church revitalisation: Remember – Repent – Recover. This paradigm is clearly evident in the “letters to the seven churches” in Revelation 2-3. It has been encapsulated in the church revitalisation ministry of the Briarwood Presbyterian Church, Birmingham, Alabama, and is described in the book, From Embers to a Flame.
